Little Adventures... On The Beach

This weather we've had since Christmas has been driving me a bit stir crazy, I don't do sitting still indoors very well at the best of times, so I can't tell you how relieved I was when we had a dry afternoon yesterday. There was a long list of things to do in garden this week, none of which I'd achieved, but instead of tackling them, Theo and I took a little drive.

We headed to Bosham, a little village I know very well as I used to live there and Jim and I married in the 1000 year-old church. It's a pretty amazing place with tons of history. It features in the Bayeux Tapestry, it's where King Canute tried to hold back the tide and it's the only British location mentioned in the X Files.

We spent nearly two hours on a tiny stretch of beach searching for washed up treasures. There weren't many (I think Bracklesham Bay is still best for this) but enough to keep a small boy entertained.

We amassed a collection of shells which I traded for compliance in front of the camera and we tossed pebbles in the sea. I even brought snacks thanks to a goodie bag from Britmums & Barny. I had forgotten though that seagulls can hear the tearing wrapper of a bear-shaped sponge cake from several miles away. No wonder Theo looks so pensive...

    1. Thank you. Trying to be a bit more photo focussed this year. I took part in a fascinating Twitter chat this week all about the future of blogging and how little time people have to read blogs…

    2. That must have been an interesting discussion. I love blogs - find it hard to read a newspaper during the week. But I do read a number of blogs regularly. So we are only going to have the attention for 140 characters. I wonder if it will reduce thoughtful discourse and create a society that is mostly reactionary....

  11. It's great to be able to get out and blow the cobwebs away, what better place then at the beach. I hope the seagulls didn't get Barny, thanks for linking up and sharing your lovely photos with Country Kids.

  14. Lovely photos, the one of the seagull is amazingly clear - they always look blurred when I try taking pics of birds. That is really interesting about the church and I'd love to visit it one day.

    1. They definitely move a lot less when they are hovering over you looking for a meal so that helps! :-)
