We headed to Bosham, a little village I know very well as I used to live there and Jim and I married in the 1000 year-old church. It's a pretty amazing place with tons of history. It features in the Bayeux Tapestry, it's where King Canute tried to hold back the tide and it's the only British location mentioned in the X Files.
We spent nearly two hours on a tiny stretch of beach searching for washed up treasures. There weren't many (I think Bracklesham Bay is still best for this) but enough to keep a small boy entertained.
We amassed a collection of shells which I traded for compliance in front of the camera and we tossed pebbles in the sea. I even brought snacks thanks to a goodie bag from Britmums & Barny. I had forgotten though that seagulls can hear the tearing wrapper of a bear-shaped sponge cake from several miles away. No wonder Theo looks so pensive...
This post is an entry for Britmums 'Winter Little Adventures Challenge' sponsored by Barny, individually wrapped bear-shaped sponges with a hidden filling. Find out more about Barny here
i love your photos. What a fun day out.
ReplyDeleteThank you Catherine!
DeleteAmazing pics, as usual! I love the one of the boat and seagull :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. Trying to be a bit more photo focussed this year. I took part in a fascinating Twitter chat this week all about the future of blogging and how little time people have to read blogs…
DeleteThat must have been an interesting discussion. I love blogs - find it hard to read a newspaper during the week. But I do read a number of blogs regularly. So we are only going to have the attention for 140 characters. I wonder if it will reduce thoughtful discourse and create a society that is mostly reactionary....
DeleteA lovely memory for you. Isn't Theo growing up fast? Quite the little boy.
ReplyDeleteNice to have found your blog! Lovely photos..
ReplyDeleteLovely photos x
ReplyDeleteI love the beach whatever the weather. Your photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos - we live by the beach and anything beachy always puts a smile on my face! Totally got sidetracked by the South Coast Breakfasts in your sidebar too ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat stunning photos! It was SO windy here today, we had hoped to get out today but no joy - a sudden downpour and gales!

ReplyDeleteWhat fab fab photos, and it looks like spring is coming!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to be able to get out and blow the cobwebs away, what better place then at the beach. I hope the seagulls didn't get Barny, thanks for linking up and sharing your lovely photos with Country Kids.

ReplyDeleteYou have fab photos! I love the seaside. Wishing you lots of luck.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you picked a brilliant day to go out! Beautiful photos, and your little dude is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, the one of the seagull is amazingly clear - they always look blurred when I try taking pics of birds. That is really interesting about the church and I'd love to visit it one day.
ReplyDeleteThey definitely move a lot less when they are hovering over you looking for a meal so that helps! :-)
Deletewowow fantastic pics! love the seagull shot! x
