I'm a bit late posting today as we've been down in Devon overnight visiting River Cottage (more on that later this week) but here's my portrait for week 36....
Theo got the final batch of birthday presents last week (after our original birthday plans were scuppered by illness) and he was absolutely delighted with his VW Campervan tent from my sister, Jane.
There were proper over-excited squeals emanating from inside it after we popped it up. After an evening of excited play downstairs, we moved it up to his bedroom and discovered that his old cotbed mattress fits it perfectly, so it's a proper camp now! He keeps telling us he is going to sleep in it overnight and then we turn the lights off and he backs down and says that actually it's a bit scary in the dark!
PS - This is a classic example where (1) shooting in manual and (2) shooting with a prime lens can produce results it is hard to achieve on a point and shoot. I shot this at 8pm, it was dark outside and although we had the bedroom light on it wasn't bright. I cranked up the exposure compensation by +1 and took the shutter speed to its lowest safe point (roughly the same as the length of the lens) with a wide aperture and the result is an image that almost looks like it was shot in daylight...
Such a gorgeous photo and a perfectly cheeky face! Now following on Bloglovin x
