About Me
Hello, I'm Clare.
I'm a former radio presenter, now a SAHM, modern quilter and keen photographer. I'm married to Jim and mum to Theo (born Aug 11) We also have two slightly crazy dogs.
I started blogging in 2006 when I was sent to work in the Falkland Islands by my employers British Forces Broadcasting. Later that year I met Jim. We spent the next six years moving round postings in Germany, Cyprus, Canada and Scotland.
In 2009 (while we were overseas) we bought a run-down 100 year-old bungalow in Sussex and after many years of planning, at the start of 2013 we moved into the house and began the process of transforming it into a modern New England house.
The build took 4 and a half months, but when the builders left site our work continued with a lot of painting and small DIY jobs left for us to do. You can read the posts from that time here.
Maybush Studio is my creative space on the web. Somewhere to take you on a photographic tour of our family moments, my modern quilting, our home and the best bits of Sussex life.
Other than sewing, photography and quilting, I also love cooking (I'm a member of my local Clandestine Cake Club) box sets (we've just started Modern Family which we LOVE) and reading. Oh and I'm studying for a distance learning degree in Graphic Design too.
I have previously blogged under the name of Little House On The Prairie (whilst in Canada) Little Island In The Med (whilst in Cyprus) and A Home In The Highlands (whilst in Scotland) It took a while before I realised I needed to stick with a domain!
